3rd Jasmine filmfest. to be held with 10 films in Asia Competition

TEHRAN, Sep. 27 (MNA) – 10 films from 38 works submitted to the Asian competition section will vie at the 3rd Jasmine International Film Festival (JIFF) to be held in Iranian province of Mazandaran.

The newly added section to Jasmine International Film Festival (TJIFF), Asian Competition, has shortlisted ten films to compete at the international event to be held in the northern city of Mazandaran, Iran, from 3-8 October 2015.

In addition to two Iranian film productions and one co-produced with Sweden, other films are from Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, India, Japan, and Singapore.

Except for the Georgian 2015 production Village which will enjoy its first screening in a film festival in the Middle East, the other participating films have been completed after January 2014.  

Organized by Iran’s Visual Media Institute in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, the festival is hosting the participants in six competitive sections. The competitors are to contend for awards in Iran Competition, Video-Cinema Competition, Feature Animation Competition, Script Writing Competition, World Competition and Asia Competition.

Secretariat of the festival has received 162 films so far, and the selection committee will pick the best to introduce to the festival. France, America, Germany, Spain, Argentina, Japan, England, Singapore, Belgium, Austria, Russia, Canada, and New Zealand are some of the countries whose representatives will attend the event.

Jasmine festival aims at encouraging cultural diversity and providing the opportunity of comparing the quality of various productions.

JIFF will take place on September 23-28 in Iranian northern province of Mazandaran.
